Multiple sources confirm that next season’s tenth season of Smallville
will be its last. The CW is expected to make the
announcement at its upfront presentation on Thursday, but apparently
star Tom Welling beat the CW to the punch by alerting media outlets.
Though its renewal for a 10th season was never really in doubt to us,
hardcore fans broke a sweat over the ratings once the show was moved to
Fridays. I’m happy that the CW is announcing it as a last season.
The hardest core fans will still likely sweat the ratings anyway, but at
least they can enjoy the final season without worry about whether
ratings matter for the show’s renewal.
