Which moments will “wow” when Clark and Lois walk down the aisle? What’s really behind Lex’s return? Will Chloe get the sendoff she deserves? And what deleted scenes might make it onto DVD? Here are the slightly-spoilerly teases Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders were willing to part with.
QUESTION | Having just seen a snippet from the finale, it’s safe to say it was huge undertaking with tons of story to tell. How would you describe it?
Souders: It’s two hours, jampacked. You don’t feel like you’re just waiting for the last two minutes of the episode.
QUESTION | Besides the more recognizable ones, were there any small standout moments in the finale?
Souders: There are a couple of moments in the church, particularly when Lois is about to walk down the aisle. Actually, I’m just going to say I have a couple of favorite moments on the actual aisle.

Kelly Souders: When Lois (Erica Durance) is about to walk down the aisle...I'll just say I have a couple great favorite moments just on the aisle.
Brian Peterson: And there's a very good scene with a door. It's probably one of everybody's favorite scene in the show. There's one shot that is just like the Smallville shot. You'll see it and you're like, 'this is what we needed in the finale.' And you'll know it the second you see it.

Series Finale Spoilers and Speculations

This morning I took a trip down the CW to not only take a sneak peek at the series (snif) finale of SMALLVILLE, but also talk to executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders about the highly anticipated finale.

The sneak peek was a special finale promo prepared especially for the press attending (sorry it’s not something that you will get to see), but that said I can do the next best thing, talk about what I saw.

I was given the green light to share with you some of what was shown in the promo, so here are some spoilers and speculations on the Smallville series finale based on the screening. Needless to say, if you want everything to be a surprised, stop reading now!

[Update: The CW has asked us to cut down a few things, sorry if you missed some of it, I guess you'll have to see it all in the finale!]

- The Darkseid apocalypse is not coming, it’s already here!

- Lois and Clark fans, don’t worry, he will not let Lois go that easily. In fact, I can tell you that we will be seeing Lois in a wedding dress. However, it looks like some disturbance might cut the wedding short.

- Chloe is back and we will get some sort of closure for her character.

- Peterson and Souders mentioned that there would be some explanation as to the presence of Jonathan Kent, which I’m sure a lot of you are excited about. I for sure would like to find out what his presence means.

- Of course, after all the previews shown, we know that Lex returns in the finale, but there are going to be some “big twists.”

- Is that Clark flying?!!! Ok maybe not, but I’m pretty sure it was him floating, which leads me to say… he will fly, but that’s just my own speculation/hope.

- There is a hint that the Superman costume will be involved in the finale, but that could be the power of editing. My take? They have to put Clark in the costume, they have to.

I have chills!!

And that’s only part of it. Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders also had tons more to say, but that will be put up closer to the finale. I do hope that I have given you enough to chew on.

And so don’t forget to tune in this Friday, May 13, at 8pm for the epic 2-hour series finale of Smallville on The CW.

Tom Welling Calls 'Smallville' Series Finale

For fans of “Smallville,” the series finale will certainly be bittersweet. For the actors and others involved, it’s even more so.

Star Tom Welling, who plays Clark Kent, spoke to Zap2it about the end of the show and hinted at some of the developments that will cap off the series' decade-long run.

"I think people will feel fulfilled, but it's going to be bittersweet,” he said. “If someone has been watching the show for 10 years, it's coming to an end, and that's never a fun thing . . .You always want more, but the reality is that it can't go on forever."

The way they filmed the ending was especially unique, revealed Welling.

“We shot the actual finale as our third-to-last episode,” he said. “We shot two more episodes, then shot the first part of the finale last. It gave us the opportunity to take a look at what would be the last image of the show in post-production and make any changes or adaptations to it. It didn't necessarily take the emotional pressure off us, but the time pressure.”

Speaking about filming the very end, he said, "As we were shooting it, everyone's senses were heightened. People were flying up from L.A. [to Vancouver, where the show has been made] to supervise and make sure everyone who had to make a decision was there. Everybody was just really excited, and the energy level went up.”

“The last image, for me, sums up not only the end of Clark Kent but the birth of Superman,” he went on. “I hope that's what people can take away . . . that Clark is still out there fighting the good fight, but we're just not able to go with him.

That's what star Tom Welling says about "Smallville," which has spent 10 years charting Clark Kent's progression from his teen years into young adulthood, putting the native of the planet Krypton at the brink of becoming the Man of Steel. A landmark show for the then-WB Network before it merged with UPN to become the current CW, the DC Comics-inspired adventure wraps up its run with a two-hour finale Friday, May 13.

Many details are being kept under wraps, but wedding thoughts are certain since Clark (played by Tom Welling) is on the verge of marrying his true love, reporter Lois Lane (Erica Durance). However, his mind also is on two foes: the powerful Darkseid and the sly Lex Luthor, the latter played again by former series regular Michael Rosenbaum (now a co-star of Fox's "Breaking In").

First look: Chloe and Oliver 10.21-22 Finale

The "Smallville" finale is shrouded in mystery -- the official episode description contains as little information as possible, and surprise guest stars have been kept under wraps. We do know one thing for sure: Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack) will make it to the wedding of Clark Kent and Lois Lane. And, since she's maid of honor, we can see that Lois's taste in bridesmaid dresses is not at all terrible!

Frankly, Chloe looks adorable, and we're so thrilled that Mack decided to return to the series for one final bow so that we can say a proper goodbye to the girl we met 10 years ago. "She ends in a very healthy and levelheaded way," Mack has said. "I think that the writers have respected my character for such a long time, and she goes out with the same affection she came in with."

She'll be joined, of course, by her date Oliver Queen (Justin Hartley) who recently became her husband, though their wedding was slightly less traditional than Clark and Lois's may be.

They sure look happy, but as we know, Oliver has been branded with the Omega. Despite his show of loyalty to Clark in last week's Zod-centric episode, he remains a ticking time bomb.

What can you tell us about "Dominion," tonight's episode? Justin Hartley: I can tell you that I directed it. The story is in the beginning we find out that something happened in the Phantom Zone. Clark (Tom Welling) is the only one who can go into the Phantom Zone and fix the problem, but once he comes back out of the Phantom Zone, of course, everything goes to hell. Oliver cons his way into the Phantom Zone when Clark says, 'Don't go, it's dangerous.' Now the two of them up being stuck in the Phantom Zone, and they have to work together to figure out a way out. We find out a lot about trust and where their trust lies with each other and within themselves. [There's] a really touching scene at the end between Lois and Clark. Zod (Callum Blue) comes back. So, tons going on. A lot for a first-time director. I got lucky. I got a really great script. I got great people to work with, I got great stories for our leads. And I got a lot of help from everyone so hopefully everyone likes it.

When the final season of “Smallville” began, Erica Durance found herself getting more than a little nostalgic.
“I never want a good thing to end,” the actress who plays Lois Lane says. “But every chapter has to close.”
In the series’ final season, Lois and Clark Kent are closer than ever; he’s assuming his place as Superman. And the final episode? It has to be good, Durance says. “People have watched this for 10 years. They’ve lived the journey.”
When the series started, neither character seemed headed toward the inevitable. Indeed, Durance didn’t even think about the “Lois and Clark” scenario. “I almost purposely wouldn’t allow myself to think, ‘This is who she is in the end.’ I wanted to be free to see where they might go. I didn’t want to put pressure on the relationship.”

It's no secret that Chloe and Oliver's marriage on Smallville is an anomaly.

Firstly, Chloe (Allison Mack) didn't actually exist in the previous Superman mythology before being created specifically for the once WB, now CW series. Secondly, Oliver Queen (Justin Hartley) married Dinah Lance aka the Black Canary (Alaina Huffman) in the comic mythos. While the fans do love Chlollie, the question remains: Will their marriage survive the series finale of Smallville?

Smallville exclusive first look: Supergirl returns!

Hartley, who directs this Friday's new episode, dishes on what's in store for the Chloe-Oliver-Dinah debacle, as well as Zod's return and the ominous Omega symbol on the Green Arrow's skull.

Oliver has been marked with the Omega symbol of darkness. What will we see for him as the series comes to a close?

Hartley: At the end of "Dominion," Oliver is faced with a cold reality that he's not going to be able to get rid of this infection just by willing it away. He has to figure out a whole other path, something he's never done before. He goes on this journey to try to get rid of this thing.

Oliver and Chloe are going to be the best man and woman at Lois and Clark's wedding. What's in store for them?

Hartley: A lot of hell breaks loose, actually. Oliver has the Omega and turns into a totally different, disgusting person. Chloe has to figure out a way to stand by him. She does. In the end, it's interesting because Oliver has to go do his thing, and Chloe has to go do her thing, so there's a really sweet, tender moment in the finale that I think you'll like. The way it's all wrapped up is actually really beautiful. It leaves you with a warm heart.

"Smallville" star Tom Welling and his wife Jamie called into their friend Robert Dover's radio show on Tuesday afternoon to discuss life post-Clark Kent. Both Tom and Jamie were overwhelmed by the number of fans calling in to wish Tom a happy birthday - it was his 34th - some from places as far-reaching as Jordan and Australia.
"I don't think we realized it when we were in it," Jamie says, noting that fans from across the world send her Facebook messages in droves. "Now that we're settled and we can look back at those years, it's just incredible."
The fact that the show airs in so many countries has always impressed Tom. "I always wonder what my voice sounds like in other countries," he says.
"You've got a really sexy German accent Tom, don't worry," Jamie teases.

I can now tell you that with the big day promising big drama, Clark should be content to know that not only will his mother, Martha (played by Annette O’Toole), be on hand for the ceremony, but so will dad Jonathan (John Schneider) – talk about your very special guests! Speaking of curious finale reunions, I see that many fans are expecting the returning Lex to have at least one scene with his also-”resurrected” father, Lionel. Alas, a source tells me that although John Glover is in the series finale, he and Michael Rosenbaum in fact did not get to shoot any new scenes together.

The May 13 series finale of Smallville promises major changes for Clark Kent, and not just his transformation into Superman. As seen in this exclusive photo, Clark (Tom Welling) and Lois Lane (Erica Durance) head to the chapel — but there's drama along the way. "It's a very, very long walk down that aisle," teases executive producer Kelly Souders. "There are some good moments, some heart-wrenching moments and some surprising moments at their wedding."

Souders says that "if you keep your eyes open you'll see a few familiar faces" in attendance, including Ollie (Justin Hartley) as the best man and Chloe (Allison Mack) as the matron of honor. "They've always been there for our beloved couple and they will be all the way to the end."

Given that this is the final episode, should viewers be concerned that Clark may not get to kiss the bride and seal the deal? "I think fans will be pleased with how things turn out," Souders says, "but it's never what you expect. I will just say that there are moments directly before and after this photo that, even seeing the footage for the 50th time, I still get a little teary."
