Spoiler - Smallville Finale Scoop Clark -Lois

SPOILER ALERT

As Smallville gears up for its final journey towards Clark Kent's destiny, Lois (Erica Durance) and Clark (Tom Welling) will prepare to walk down the aisle in the series finale. But will they actually make it to "I do"?
The wedding "tests their relationship, and they both separately get put through the wringer," executive producer Kelly Souders tells TVGuide.com. "At the end of the day, with everything that they're juggling in their lives, the question is whether or not they feel like getting married is really the most responsible thing."
Death hits Smallville — and more spoilers from the final episodes
The lead-up to the impending nuptials will be tumultuous, although it might not compare to Chloe (Allison Mack) and Jimmy's disaster of a wedding in Season 8 (really, what could?). "It's just the reality of weddings," Souders says. "There's always drama, and in fact, there is, a lot of times, way more drama offscreen than you could ever portray onscreen. As far as the two of them go, [weddings] always bring up issues, not only with the people getting married, but the people around them, and it will definitely have an effect on everyone."
Among those affected on the big day are Jonathan (John Schneider), Martha (Annette O'Toole) and Chloe, as well as "some wonderful nods to beloved characters."
Smallville flies off with a two-hour series finale
Souders says the finale will be all-encompassing, whether you've watched every moment of Smallville history or not. "A decade is a long time, and I think what was really important to us was that we know there are true diehard fans who have been there from the beginning, and then there are a lot of people who've come in and out," she says. "In our mind this was a finale for everyone, that there would be key crucial moments that would hopefully pay off any fan and what was most important to them."
Certainly for the fans of any level of the mythos, witnessing Clark use a telephone booth for the first time to change into his super suit in an upcoming episode is like icing on the wedding cake. Souders says the producers are "absolutely trying" to fit in more of those moments before the former WB, now CW series makes its farewell.

When asked to describe the finale in one word, Souders, who has worked on the series since Season 2, is overcome with emotion. "Wow," she says. "It might be 'Wow' actually. There's a million things that are racing through my mind. I don't know if I can give you an answer, because there's the answer for the fan, but there's also an answer as somebody who has dedicated almost a decade of five, six, sometimes seven days a week.
"Let's say 'emotional' covers kind of both of them, but I could throw a bunch of different ones: 'Uplifting', 'revealing' and I will throw in the word 'huge' in there as well."
Smallville returns with fresh episodes Friday at 8/7c on the CW. The two-hour series finale airs Friday, May 13.
