Lois Lane prepares to say goodbye to 'Smallville'
“I never want a good thing to end,” the actress who plays Lois Lane says. “But every chapter has to close.”
In the series’ final season, Lois and Clark Kent are closer than ever; he’s assuming his place as Superman. And the final episode? It has to be good, Durance says. “People have watched this for 10 years. They’ve lived the journey.”
When the series started, neither character seemed headed toward the inevitable. Indeed, Durance didn’t even think about the “Lois and Clark” scenario. “I almost purposely wouldn’t allow myself to think, ‘This is who she is in the end.’ I wanted to be free to see where they might go. I didn’t want to put pressure on the relationship.”

It’s proving to be an emotional time. We’re on our last few episodes. As alwaysthank you for ALL your support. It’s been a wonderful experience that I will treasure.I know it’s not easy for fans to come to terms with the idea of closure. We alldeal with it on our own ways. What is important is to respect each other. We areall part of the journey regardless of whether we are fans, cast or crew.One day I’d like to address some questions on twitter in the future. For now, I donot have the time and I hope you will continue to respect that, and be patient.Once again, I am not on twitter, nor is my husband or family. We do not have thetime. Unfortunately, there are those who call themselves fans who manipulateothers into believing this is not true. There are fans/friends who may appear protective,as a result.As always, I’m very grateful to be part of Smallville and grateful to have the supportof fans. This weekend WB had a press junket in Vancouver for a variety of shows, including Smallville.
While other shows seemed to have 2-4 cast members there for promotion, it appears Smallville only sent one. The lovely & friendly Erica Durance.
Upon leaving Ms. Durance (with her husband in tow) came over to the 2 of us waiting & signed a couple autographs each & did a photo with.
